So I just ordered Neil Gaiman's Murder Mysteries as illustrated by P. Craig Russell, and while I'm quite looking forward to that, it has come to my attention that P. Also, I really really love Todd Haynes. Poison is just such a well-crafted film. Not necessarily "fun" to watch, but so rewarding. It seems that criticism on Todd Haynes has rather exploded since the last time I looked (while writing my thesis, in 2004). At the time, I was able to find less than a handful of academic articles to reference, and had to resort to quoting interviews and movie reviews. Salome really is a beautiful, beautiful play. It should be better known. A Spanish book that I cannot read because I don't know Spanish calls it "la obra más representativa de Wilde," and it is: not representative of his plays, but of his writings as a whole, and perhaps more to the point, that which I love most about his writing.
